About Us

We are a group of board certified clinical neuropsychologists specializing in pediatric neuropsychological assessment and consultation. Our neuropsychologists have extensive experience working with children of all ages, ranging from infancy through early adulthood. We provide consultation to serve children and families in Michigan seeking help in understanding the relationship between brain development and child behavior, learning and emotion.

Providers

Dr. Abigail Johnson

Dr. Abigail Johnson is board certified in clinical neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology. She completed her PhD in clinical psychology – child track, at Southern Illinois University. She completed her neuropsychological training as an intern at the Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins University and a postdoctoral fellow at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She has more than 10 years of experience in pediatric neuropsychological assessment and intervention in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with a focus on traumatic and acquired brain injury across the spectrum of recovery.

Dr. Jennifer Larson

Dr. Jennifer Larson is board certified in clinical neuropsychology, with pediatric neuropsychology subspecialty certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology. She completed her PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology at University of Utah in 2013. She completed her neuropsychological training as an intern at Children’s Hospital Colorado (2013) and a postdoctoral fellow at Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins University (2015). While Dr. Larson is well versed in working with a wide range of complex medical and developmental presentations, she specializes in outcome after preterm birth, brain injury, and other rehabilitation populations.

Dr. Danielle Shapiro

Dr. Danielle Shapiro is board certified in clinical neuropsychology and is a board certified subspecialist in pediatric neuropsychology, both through the American Board of Professional Psychology. She completed her PhD in clinical psychology and women’s studies at the University of Michigan in 2012. She also completed her pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan, in 2011 and 2014 respectively. Dr. Shapiro is an expert in neuropsychological assessment. She has experience with a wide range of medical, behavioral, and cognitive concerns and a particular focus on brain injury and other rehabilitation populations.

Services

Independent Medical Examinations: As experts in pediatric neuropsychology, we offer consultative services to insurance companies, individuals, or legal counsel within our areas of expertise.

  • Medical chart review – We review existing medical documentation, neuropsychological assessment and educational records to provide an expert opinion and recommendations.
  • Forensic consultation and evaluation – We complete a medical chart review and conduct a comprehensive evaluation including clinical interview, and face to face neuropsychological assessment to provide an expert opinion and recommendations.
  • Deposition and Legal testimony – We are able to provide expert testimony for cases reviewed for an additional fee.
Independent Educational Evaluations: As experts in helping advise children and families about the educational services and supports that may best suit a child’s neurodevelopmental needs, we can offer services to schools, families, or legal counsel within our areas of expertise.
  • Educational Chart review – We review existing psychoeducational documentation, neuropsychological/psychological assessment records and educational records to provide an expert opinion and recommendations.
  • Psychoeducational evaluation – We complete a chart review and conduct a comprehensive evaluation including clinical interview, and face to face neuropsychological assessment to provide an expert opinion and recommendations.
  • Deposition and Legal testimony – We are able to provide expert testimony for educational cases reviewed for an additional fee when appropriate.
